Variable draught Versatility
Exploring the tropics at shallow draft is one of the AC72’s key capabilities, while race-winning performance is part of its Advanced DNA. To reconcile these two requirements, innovative centerboards are incorporated to enable shallow draft without sacrificing performance. Combined with our approach to manageability of propulsion, steering and sail handling, we have made this yacht the perfect exploration vessel for sailors of all skill levels, with or without crew. Carefully engineered by the best in the business, the centerboards are another example of Advanced Yachts’ commitment to excellence in practical yacht design.
Our 72-foot cruising catamaran is the perfect balance of space and sailing pleasure. With a saloon that is unsurpassed in large cruising catamarans, an “aft beach” that stretches across the entire width of 10 meters and a forward cockpit where you can relax in privacy. And yet we have invested a lot of time to make the most of every square millimeter on board the AC72. Our careful visualization and modelling process allowed for 360-degree views from the saloon seats, with pleasant and natural light in all areas to make the yacht inviting and atmospheric. Indoor and outdoor living is made possible in true Italian style by the widest possible three-part saloon doors. Our newly designed flybridge allows the helmsman, family and guests to enjoy sailing and socializing together. The AC72 is an irrepressible blend of social life and sailing pleasure.
Italian design
Overwhelming performance
To ensure exhilarating performance under sail, Advanced Yacht entrusted the naval architecture to the renowned American studio Reichel/Pugh – an established leader in high performance boat design. The resulting design and construction techniques have been optimized for responsive handling and, most importantly, weight savings. The hull and deck are composite – with advanced foam cores vacuum infused with epoxy resin. Carbon reinforcements are used extensively in the most stressed areas and the deckhouse is made entirely of carbon. The interior is lightweight and all fittings have been selected with particular attention to durability, with all being weighed prior to installation.
