Description

The CORSAIR 760: With the 760, Corsair is launching a new trailerable trimaran in the 24-foot class. Based on the popular 24 and 750 series, the design has been completely redesigned by our partner Perus Yacht Design. The 760 offers sailors more comfort, performance and safety than the previous 24-foot class. The new “wave piercing” floats have even more volume than the previous models. This improves buoyancy and results in significantly greater stability. The 760 offers an improved interior with a compact galley and a lifting roof. This compact cruising trimaran offers a comfortable double berth for weekend cruising, with the option of two additional berths via a retractable cabin table in the saloon. Like all other Corsair trimarans, the 760 has the tried-and-tested folding mechanism. In combination with the mast-raising device, this results in a perfect trailer boat that can be launched by one person without assistance in a short time. The 760 is also available as a SPORT version. This has a rotating carbon fiber mast and boom, as well as other performance-enhancing components.

CORSAIR 760 SPORT

Performance made easy: The Corsair 760 SPORT shines with outstanding performance, guaranteed by the use of lightweight carbon fiber technology. Nevertheless, it retains its simple and effective sail plan with a wide range of sail trim options, as well as the proven folding mechanism that makes the Corsair 760 so easy to handle. The carbon fiber mast, which comes as standard on the Corsair 760, reduces the height of the centre of gravity and thus increases safety. So you can sail full speed ahead, keeping this performance sailboat permanently and comfortably under full control – Built for racing, but cruising at home: all Corsair trimarans are built to withstand the toughest conditions. However, the SPORT models, including the 760 SPORT, are tuned to deliver results. We realize that when building ocean-going trimarans, the devil is in the details. This design and construction philosophy allows the new SPORT not only to reach every finish line, but also to win many regattas. The Corsair 760 SPORT has an outstanding weight performance class of 42.9 m²/t, leading on every continent. But the 760 SPORT is not a slimmed-down cruiser – it is the result of a combination of creative thinking and intelligent use of high-performance materials to extend the Corsair 760 platform. More than eight hundred 24-foot Corsairs and nearly three thousand sailing Corsairs worldwide are a statement of safety and reliability. Now, with the Corsair 760 SPORT, we’re shifting up a gear and more records are about to fall.

CORSAIR 760R

CORSAIR 760R: The new Corsair 760R is Corsairs ultimate racing boat! Fast, fun and affordable, this 24-foot sports boat is the perfect day boat for families, friends and racers. True to the 760 range, the new R version offers an identical underwater profile and sail plan, but features a huge full-length cockpit that sacrifices volume and comfort. CORSAIR MARINE INTERNATIONAL:

With thirty years as the world market leader in multihull construction, more than 2000 Corsair Marine trimarans sail all over the world. From high performance sailing to family cruising, from day sailing to longer expeditions, the Corsair range offers the perfect boat for the discerning sailor in search of adventure.

History

Since 1984-TIME LIST: Corsair Marine International is a lightweight composite sailboat builder specializing in the construction of trailerable trimarans. Originally based in San Diego, California, the company was founded in 1984 by John Walton (son of Sam Walton, founder of retail giant Wal Mart) to build and market the Corsair F-27 trailerable trimaran designed by Ian Farrier. Almost immediately, this new design was a huge success. The sailing public loved the versatility of this new trimaran with its patented folding mechanism that allowed the Corsairs to be easily folded to a width that allowed them to be secured behind a family car or fit into a standard harbor berth. This new design, extended to its full beam for sailing, proved to be an impressive performance sailboat. Over the next decade, new designs were added and the company expanded to offer a full range of folding trimarans from 24 feet to 37 feet. The popularity of these amazing designs continued to grow – both in the US and beyond, as dealers were appointed worldwide. In 2006, the company relocated its headquarters and manufacturing facilities from San Diego, California to Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC), Vietnam. Due to its central location, political stability, booming economy and large pool of talented labor, several key employees were relocated from California to Vietnam to facilitate the company’s migration and factory setup and operations. SEAWIND CATAMARAN Holdings Pty Ltd acquires Corsair Marine International: In October 2010, the company was acquired by Seawind Catamarans, Australia’s most prolific and successful designer and manufacturer of performance cruising sailing catamarans. Seawind is a world leader in performance cruising catamarans and exports its designs around the world. With over 30 years of experience in the manufacture and design of multihulls, the company has gone from strength to strength since its inception in 1982, when owner and managing director Richard Ward began building catamarans off the beach. An experienced sailor and ocean racer, Richard built Seawind catamarans from the ground up, but always with the philosophy of building safe, strong and powerful sailboats ideal for bay sailing or serious ‘blue water’ cruising. When Corsair Marine was acquired in 2010, the new owner declared: “This is a marriage made in heaven. Both companies have products and manufacturing processes that are highly complementary. For Corsair and Seawind, this means new growth opportunities in manufacturing and distribution. Our loyal Seawind customers will benefit from the technology transfer as well as the cost advantages of a larger overall manufacturing base and the integration of some common components, while our Corsair customers will benefit from strong management and greater financial strength. It is an incredibly good fit for both companies and allows us to expand and remain competitive in a global market. Both branded products benefit from each other’s particular expertise with a significant transfer of ideas, systems and personnel. “Throughout Corsair Marine’s history, our dedicated dealer team continues to represent and service Corsair Marine trimarans in 6 regions of the U.S. and 20 other locations around the world, including Europe, Australia and Asia Pacific. Ask a Corsair dealer anywhere in North America, where large fleets can be found in most states, to show firsthand why Corsairs are the most versatile tailerable trimarans available today. The company has impressively sold more than 2,000 trimarans through its global dealer network and continues to innovate with new designs and construction methods. All Corsair trimarans are hand-built using high-tech composite construction and vacuum resin techniques in which they are world leaders. The Corsair Group continues its policy of constant improvement to enhance its high standards of quality and design with which Corsair marine trimarans have always been associated. The combined entities of Corsair Marine International and Seawind Catamarans employ more than 220 incredibly skilled and dedicated people. Both brands are manufactured at the continuously growing factory headquarters in South Vietnam.

16 GOOD REASONS- Why buy a Corsair trimaran?

They’re fast, they’re safe, they’re exciting, they’re trailerable, they’re versatile, fun and extremely stable, they start in the slightest breeze, their shallow draft allows them to land directly on any beach, there’s plenty of room for family and crew on the large trampoline nets, the wide outriggers provide an expansive, flat and stable platform under sail, they’re great fun when anchored, quick and easy from trailer to sailor! 16 good reasons why Corsairs are the best!

  1. Exceptional speed and effortless acceleration are the hallmarks of Corsair trimarans. The ability to “fly” with a gust and sail in their own strong apparent wind is legendary. With no braking keel and the lowest possible wetted surface due to their lightweight construction, Corsair’s catamarans are effortlessly propelled by their high-tech sails.
  2. Integrated into the design is superior safety, which results from the characteristics of the construction, as well as the ability to sail fast and with low heel. Corsair catamarans are unsinkable. Even with all hulls completely filled with water, the buoyancy of the construction materials keeps the boat off the surface, including the entire crew.
  3. Pleasant stability at any speed, and in almost any sea state, is the simple combination of boom width and buoyancy. The maximum heel is limited to approx. 15 degrees, which feels like just 5 degrees on the Corsair’s wide, flat deck and trampolines.
  4. Trailer a Corsair is not a hassle, but a great advantage. With a little practice, it only takes one person 30 minutes to get from the trailer into the water or back onto the trailer. The floats can be folded and unfolded effortlessly, the mast can be lowered in no time at all, and trailering itself is child’s play. This can save a lot on slip fees and seasonal storage charges.
  5. The larger models offer plenty of space, but all models have the sleek racing shape in common. There are plenty of comfortable berths available. There is also a wide range of equipment as an add-on, as well as shower facilities as an extra. So you will not only feel comfortable in the cockpit and on deck, but also when you spend time below deck.
  6. Hit the beach at any time! A Corsair trimaran can be run aground on the beach at any time by sail or motor. Then simply dismount and position the anchor on the beach! No dinghy is needed and everything is on board and within easy reach.
  7. Unsurpassed construction: At Corsairmarine there are no compromises in terms of materials or construction techniques. As pioneers of the strongest lightweight construction, we use aerospace composite materials and techniques such as the foam sandwich method, various types of fiberglass fabrics, carbon fiber and Kevlar. These are processed in a vacuum process to achieve the best possible resin/fiber ratio.
  8. The Corsair folding system: A patented, unbeatable system that has proven itself in decades of use worldwide. It is the most successful and stable of its kind. 8. The Corsair folding system: A patented, unbeatable system that has proven itself in decades of use worldwide. It is the most successful and stable of its kind.
  9. Design with tradition: Over the years, our outstanding Corsair design team has been able to fulfill almost every individual customer request in terms of sail plan, interior fittings or additional deck equipment. This means that the customer gets the boat of their dreams tailored to them.
  10. Low maintenance: The combination of low-maintenance materials and good engineering, the combination that makes the Corsairs so robust, slim, fast and light, also means the lowest possible maintenance requirements. As the Corsairs are rarely in the water for long periods, there is little need for new hull coatings or problems with moisture in the interior.
  11. High resale value! Over the years you will take the robustness, reliability and equipment for granted and assume that a new boat has the same or better characteristics. Because of the high quality and durability, you will be pleased to find that you can sell your Corsair for not much less than the original price.
  12. Our worldwide dealer network offers you all the support you need, whether it’s spare parts, service or advice. All new boats come with a 5-year warranty on the structure, and your nearest dealer will be able to help you quickly and competently with any concerns you may have.
  13. As a Corsair owner, you become a member of a dynamic and fun community of like-minded people, the Corsair Owners Community. This offers the opportunity to meet other Corsair owners around the world, take part in fleet regattas and exchange experiences.
  14. Over many years, Corsair has proven to be an extremely reliable manufacturer. We offer consistency in product quality, service and innovation, combined with the strong Corsair Marine brand name.
  15. We at Corsair Marine, our shipbuilders, our management, our craftsmen and our dealers share a passion for building great boats and provide the conditions for you as a Corsair owner and skipper to enjoy your hobby to the fullest.
  16. After all, on a Corsair you feel like a Corsair looks: Fast, agile, and unstoppable!
